Truth? or Lie?

There are some things you may not know about me — I like to play games…a lot. I’m a nanny – which means I’m a kid at heart. I bake, color and play candy land every week day. I’ve always been told that I remind people of a kindergartener (which is funny, because if I were a teacher THAT is the grade I would pick). I love bright colors (you wont ever catch me in all black), writing my name in swirly letters (see below) and watching Disney movies on repeat on rainy days. I’m actually watching Finding Nemo right now…

I remember playing 3 truths and 1 lie when I was younger and nobody would ever be able to guess my lie. Maybe I’m a good liar? Let’s see if I’ve still got it. Below are 4 truths and 1 lie. Sorry, I don’t follow rules. I NEEDED 4.

1. When I was younger, I used to pull the comforter over my head thinking the entire thing was bulletproof and if someone came in to “steal” me I would be safe.

2. I have helped build a house… Including but not limited to: Putting the dry wall up, adding the roof and building the stairs.

3. I used to think bones could fall out of my feet and would come home daily to tell my mom another one did.

4. I don’t know how to whistle!

5. My favorite dessert is Creme Brulee and I wish I had a torch to make it!

Well? Which one do you think it is??

Since I bake so often I thought I’d share this quick recipe that the girls and I made this morning for their breakfast. When it’s rainy, we bake. I like rainy days =)

Mini Cinnamon Crunch Muffins

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups Whole Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup fat-free milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • TOPPING:
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and allspice.
  • Combine the egg, milk and butter; mix well.
  • Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Spoon into greased or paper-lined mini muffin cups.
  • Bake at 400° for 12-14 minutes or until muffins test done.
  • For topping, combine sugar and cinnamon.
  • Brush the tops of warm muffins with butter; sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.

Voila. I’ve always loved cinnamon crunch muffins but I know they aren’t exactly the best thing in the world to eat for breakfast every morning. Since these are mini they are perfect to crumble in your greek yogurt, oatmeal or as a side with eggs. I really wanted to add blueberries to these but we didn’t have any on hand – Next time!
Cutest muffin EVER. Yes, muffins can be cute.
Time to enjoy my lunch while the children are sleeping…
Spinach, walnuts, 1/4 avocado, 5 strawberries, a couple of green & red apple slices, and grilled chicken drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

QUESTIONS: Which one do you think is the lie?? What do you do on rainy days?

  7. Awesome game! I’m going with #5 for one of two possible reasons. A. I’m thinking you might prefer chocolate and B. If it indeed is your favorite dessert, I’m betting you have a torch!

  8. I can’t whistle, so I’m going to go with that one as a lie 🙂

  9. I think #5 is a lie!!! I enjoy the occassional rainy day and love thunderstorms however Milwaukee is going on 4 straight gloomy rainy days in a row and I am sick of it…

Oh and p.s. I’m SO bummed that you’re not going to be in town the weekend Katie is here! Can we please make up for it by having a date sometime soon?

  12. I think number 5 is the lie. But only because I just taught myself how to whistle like two years ago, and I totally thought I was safe from everything underneath the covers as a child! Haha.

  13. I’m going to go with #4 because I cannot whistle for the life of me and I think that I am the only one on the planet with this problem!!

  14. I have never heard of this game until I read a blog the other day, but its fun! 🙂

I will go with number four!

  15. Those muffins really look amazing! YUM!!!

I vote for “I used to think bones could fall out of my feet and would come home daily to tell my mom another one did.” #3 being false!

I totally did #2 in Mexico! Built like 6 houses for the people living in a very secluded (and poor) area!

  16. Those muffins really are cute! This is my first time reading your blog but I’m going to go ahead and guess number 3 is false!

  17. WOW those look good!
I think the bones one is the lie, because it reminds me of the Family Guy where Peter loses his bones hahaha…

  18. I’m going with you don’t know how to whistle. And if I’m right I vote that you have to send me a package of those muffins…or at least one. Or 20… whichever….

  19. Number 3! I think 😉
Those muffins look fabulous by the way. Holy smokes!

  20. #4 for sure. I know that on rainy days for me, I definitely either bake-it-out or curl up on the couch with a book. I look at it as a mandated vacation-type day 🙂

  21. I love the muffins! They look so yummy 😀 And I vote #5 as the lie because I can’t whistle either and bc we all know you’re a pb and chocolate kinda girl 😉

  22. #3 is the lie but i found another one, never dress in all black? does that exclude around the house clothes? bc you loveeee the black stretchy pants and black excersise shirt combo

  23. Your favorite dessert is NOT creme brulee!!!

  24. I’m gonna guess number 4? Maybe it’s actually your hidden talent! haha …that salad looks like something i could whip up…A-MAZING ❤

  25. #5 has to be the lie!! 😉

  26. I choose #5! I love kindergarteners! I helped out in a kindergarten class one year, and they were the cutest kids ever. I loved watching learn to read and write during the year too.

  27. Your first paragraph could have been written about me!! The kicker is that I actually AM a kindergarten teacher! haha I think my kids get along so well with me because I am totally into the same kind of things they are!
